Rupert Neve, the man with perhaps more credentials in the audio field than anyone else living has suggested that the current 44.1 khz method of creating audio CDs is very flawed and that even a crappy analogue vynil record is more soothing to the ear and mind of the listener than 'any' CD.

The reason is because of digital switching noises that occur on 'every' CD in the high frequency band that are unrelated to the audio material.

With analogue recordings the sound is certainly not as accurate but the anolamlies and distortion create by a record player are related to the harmonic content of the material - hence soothing.

With digital recordings, at least at 44.1khz (which they all currently are) the switching noises are unrelated to the material and although not obvious to the ear the switching noise is annoying and does not allow one to relax as one would to an analogue recording.

Just thought I would clear that up.
