Just asking... 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
She got busted because with this run the Corby mafia were trying to cut out some Bali copper middlemen.

Hey folks, drugs is a nasty business. Even if all you do is puff on a joint once in a while, you are as much part of it as a Mafia hitman.

And sometimes the big cosmic roundabout will pick you up and dump you right where you deserve to be.

Ricardovitz 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
Drug users are Satan's Whores. Drug dealers are Satan's Mules. Drugs are Satan's tool.

Do drugs - die.
Sell drugs - die.
Make drugs - die. And all be damned to hell.
If Corby shipped kgs of dope to bali. Then can you explaine why the Bali police refused to allow the cannibis to be tested for origin and why they refused to finger print the plastic? Oh thats right she was caught red handed. Sorry but it doesn't work that way in any legal system. Even in Indonesia.
so if you owe me give me it back

LH, moot point please. Not mute point. Some words sound somewhat similar, but they are NOT the same.

Love your username, "Voice of Reason". Is that some sort of joke? You truly believe there is a QLD mafia shipping drugs to Bali? Why don't the police care? Why did they clear the Corbys of any involvement in the drug trade? It's all too confusing isn't it? Did you ever stop and think that maybe the media lied to you?
Maybe she is a bad girl. Maybe not. Let the poor bitch go free. John Howard is a far worse miscreant - dangerous too.
Voice of Reason 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
Because Corby and her Qld mafia used to ship kgs of the stuff there. And so now we should shed tears because one of them finally got busted?
Play with the devil - you eventually will get stuck on his horns!

I am still waiting for someone to explain how you get 4 kg of marijuana past airport security with no attempt at concealment in the middle of a terrorism alert. Or why you would take it to a country where it is cheaper in the first place. The charges against Ms. Corby make no sense, and never will. Crazy Canuck
Justice Breanna 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
What of the evidence I ask. Is it not central to the act, the aforementioned crime? If they cannot produce it, demonstrate it's veracity, then I say a grave miscarrage of justice has been done.

As one of the swarthy and barbaric hordes which Starshark refers to above, I feel compelled to correct his unsubtle suggestion that Ms. Corby's supporters are motivated by racism. This is not a radical new idea, Starshark. The Australian press and those Australian academics who think of themselves as "Indonesianists" (but who, in reality, are merely own property in Indonesian tourist areas) planted the seeds of that false idea long ago but dropped it when they realised their mistake later. Repeated often enough, it became the unthinking Aussie's mantra for all things Corby. Certainly, some of the early supporters were 'good Aussie blokes' (now I'm being sarcastic) whose support was racist in nature, but they were only vocal for five minutes on a few shock jock radio shows and promptly turned their backs on Schapelle when they learned that she had once been married to a Japanese man; that her sister was married to a Balinese man; and their mother had been married to a Tongan. Racists call people like that 'race traitors'. My wife is a race traitor, and so am I. Ever heard of that phrase? The Corbys are not really the kind of family that a true blue Aussie racist would defend - don't you agree? This is where it gets embarrassing for the likes of you because you have failed to notice that the 'racist' tag has been dropped by all good Indonesianists because it creates such a tangle of contradictions. True Indonesianists are, of course, the salt of the Earth. They are much nicer and far more civilised than the average Australian. They build cultural bridges, respect and admire all things Indonesian, and are often married to one - so they must be egalitarians. They grudgingly accepted that the Corbys themselves are as far removed from racism as it is possible to get - and therefore their diehard supporters cannot be racists either. But having planted the seed, they saw the ugly thing grow and didn't want to claim ownership of it so their strategy has evolved into one of silence. They don't talk of Schapelle in their circles. No Sir, Schapelle Corby's supporters are not racists. They are motivated by a sense of justice and fairness. Yes, there were four kilograms of marijuana in her luggage, but that was only prima facie evidence that a crime had been committed. Next, the Indonesian court should have assured that Schapelle Corby's rights as a defendant were honored - but they were not. According to Indonesian law, defendants must be allowed access to the evidence and there is always a hue and cry when they are prevented from mounting a proper defence, let me tell you! Ms Corby repeatedly asked for the marijuana to be tested for origin but the court refused her. That, in my opinion, does not constitute a fair trial, even by Indonesian standards, and yet the Aussie Indonesianists - who know better - ignored those breaches of procedure. Instead of rattling off the sad old mantras of the Australian academic elite, who I suspect you have a forlorn aspiration of one day joining, why don't you stand up and help this wrongfully convicted person? Do you feel that she is unworthy of the standard of justice you would demand for youself? If Australians are so happy to let one of their own be trampled by political expediency and then suffer cruel and relentless attacks engineered by her own people, then what can they expect to teach my country about democracy, human rights and fairness? Those white men are not doing me any favours! And Starshark, if you are the shining face of Aussie egalitarianism and racial equality, then please don't bother on my account.
FlimFlamMan you are deluded. We are not guilty of Smear and innuendo as you like to put it. We are more about exposing the REAL truth about Schapelles case. By the way I prefer to refer to Schapelle Corby as WRONGLY or UNJUSTLY Convicted drug smuggler. Because the investigation was only 50% complete. The Head of the Bali police even admitted that. The trial itself was a total sham.
FlimFlam, what an appallingly patronizing tone you take! You casually label a group with human rights concerns as merely a "fan club" and their attempts to right an injustice as "innuendo and smear"? What a twisted and rotten way you have of seeing genuinely good people. I applaud their efforts and they can consider me a new recruit to this worthwhile cause. If Australians are unable to see that this is a widespread and co-ordinated smear campaign against Schapelle Corby and her family then they must be deaf, dumb and blind. The item published above is a brilliantly scathing and accurate criticism of the loathsome Australian media. Keep trying to defend your pals, FlimFlam. The harder you try the more the ugliness will come to the surface. Australians might be indifferent to the idea of fair trials for their citizens, but I can assure you the rest of the world finds this saga a real eye-opener about the legendary Aussie "fair go".
FlimFlamMan 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
It appears the Schapelle fanclub is guilty of the innuendo and smear as well...
About time media journalists get their act together and start reporting with integrity rather than worrying about their weekly or monthly pay cheques. Shame on most of them.
Ice Queen 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
Lol, you must've been a fly on the wall because that's probably how it went down. I'd much prefer they refer to her as "accused" drug smuggler because a real conviction can only come out of a real trial. God help the Aussie population... naive victims of propaganda.
Janice Williams 17 years ago A Lament for Australian Journalism
It is high time the public cottoned on to this. It has been going on for years. Story after story with no substance, just written to create doubt about her. The only mercy is that Schapelle corby herself cannot read them. Those at SMH, ABC and all the others, who have been doing this to her, are a disgrace to the country and are now obviously bringing international shame on the country. This is a great news story because it shows exactly how it is done and how gullible the public are. Well done to the email writer and well done to Xenox for unearthing it. Poor Schapelle Corby would have been brought home years ago if the media had been ethical and truthful.
Free Schapelle!

Baz Luhrman should have made that, not that Australia rubbish.

By the heinous and evil attack in Mumbai. Will Obama take the fight to the Islamofascists, or will he cut and run and retreat back to the US? Hoping that somehow he and his country can avoid this fight.

Now, more than ever, we need the type of strong and resolute leadership that President Bush and PMs Howard and Blair gave the world. PM Rudd has shown he has no backbone, will Obama be the same?

God bless,

Patriot
Thank you Tara for the beautiful song. Schapelle did not receive a fair trial. There were numerous breaches in Indonesian Law and Human Rights conventions. Her so called trial was a farce. Even 1 violation is too much. Everyone deserves a fair go. Schapelle should be freed due to the breaches of her rights and everything else should become a mute point. FREE SCHAPELLE CORBY!

PM Howard has been gone for a year. Can't you tell? Unemployment is up and new Labor PM Kruddy has blown the budget surplus so we will all be in the red again!

These are all things that never happened under the leadership of Australia's greatest ever PM; John Howard.

For some time now, I've thought about marketing a little rubber Johnny doll. When you slip a coin onto its lower lip, a new lie displays in its eyes. When you squeeze its testicles, it protests "No, no, Laurie! I never said exactly those words. We ruled that out. We never meant to do that, and you have my iron-clad promise..."
A dirty job, but somebody has to do it now that John and Petey have gone!

Ain't no reason to keep Gitmo open. Here's Ricky's plan fer closing gitmo:

1. Dig a trench 7'x6'x600'

2. Line up every last Muslim or Ayrab, or whatever that ain't an American, 'long that trench.

3. Tell all them Ayrabs to face west and start pray'n to Allah.

4. Then start spray'n them with lead. Be kind - try to give 'em head shots so thar ain't too much sufferin.

5. Fill in the trench.

6. Sell off the Gitmo land to a Timeshare resort, and all them rottin Ayrabs will green up the first and second holes of a world-class golf course fer a real long time.
This topic has always stirred the masses into frenzies of apathy. It may or may not be wise to brethe life or death into it.

You would think the latte-sippers would be happy. They got rid of the greatest PM Australia has ever had, and replaced with an anemic PC twerp who has already blown the massive budget surplus PM Howard left him. And now you have Obama, the hope of a generation of lefty losers, and who is a dyed in the wool soc-ialist.

But still, you whine and complain that it is not enough!

Well how about trying something different instead of moaning about the government all the time? Get off your arse and get a real job so that decent hard working blokes like me don't have to pay so much tax to support your public-purse subsidised lifestyle!
