2002: The Year of Living Ignorantly

BE ALERT! MAX GROSS REPORTS ON SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOUR THREATENING OUR NATIONAL SECURITY

Truth is the first casualty of war and lies, lies, and more lies is what we've been getting from George Enron, the Pretzel Prez of the United Empire of America. And of course, our very own Aussie PM, our mini-me wannabe action hero, Johnny Winston Menzoid, who imagines he too is centre stage in some glorious, Hollywood cowboy epic.

If the Oval Orifice had irrefutable evidence of Iraq's complicity with terrorism and/or its possession of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons that threaten the world, it surely would have released it by now. In that one act, it could bring the entire world on side.

But no, even with its massive technological advantages, no such evidence has come to light nor will it have to as the Yanks ignore everything and everybody in their ongoing build up for an invasion of Iraq. History will dissect the reasons for this after the dust clears and the corpses are disinterred. God help the long-suffering civilians over there as things go from bad to worse.

The arrogant USA cut more than 8000 pages of Iraq's 11,800-page dossier on its WOMD, before passing on a censored version to the 10 non-permanent members of the United Nations security council. In doing so, the Yanks ditched an agreement of the Security Council and blackmailed Colombia - at the time presiding over the Council - into nicking the UN's only copy.

Well, hey, it's the USA stupid: they can do whatever the hell they want!

Given Washingtoon's control over who sees what in the crucial Iraqi dossier, what then are we to make of U.S allegations that 'omissions' in the document constituted a 'material breach' of the current UN resolution on Iraq.

The Yanks may call the Iraqi dossier a 'catalogue of recycled information and flagrant omissions', but the non-permanent members of the security council will have no way of checking the US accusations, a crucial issue if the U.S and its pet poodle the U.K go back to the security council seeking explicit authorization for war on Iraq.

And given the level of sabre-rattling belligerence and self-righteous war rhetoric gushing from the Oval Orifice, the Bush administration's credibility is piss-weak itself.

Washingtoon goons accused Iraq of having deadly drone airplanes, but the existence of these crappy obsolete planes was known in 1998: they couldn't hit the side of a barn in Israel, never mind Anytown USA. Iraq's "delivery" capability was a joke then and remains a joke now.

The U.K poodles recently released a report on human-rights violations in Iraq. Again, the content was at least a decade old.

Amnesty International had collected the information in the first place, a report that the both the U.K and U.S conveniently ignored when it was first issued. Oh, but NOW they give a shit, right?

And now we hear reports that the Yanks are compiling plans to "rebuild" Iraq after they reduce it to rubble. Oh yeah, like in Afghanistan?

Indeed, it's the blatant double-standards, hypocrisy and fudging of fact that undermines any genuine US concerns regarding terrorism.

The only real standard the US applies to matters of injustice are enshrined in l'il Dubya's cartoonish proclamation: you're with us or agin' us!

History has shown that many a vicious, corrupt dictatorship was a welcome partner as long as it agreed to US demands. Certainly, the U.S. had no qualms about the vicious Taliban until it said "no" .

And now that we've lost Osama and stirred up an ants nest of terrorists, we what?

Attack Iraq?!

L'il Dubya's minders have clearly lost the plot.

During the first "Gulf War", in 1991, the US bribed various Arab states to either stay out of it or join the US side:

Egypt got two-thirds of its debts to the West wiped from the slate; Syria reportedly got paid $US1 billion; Turkey got $US3 billion; and of course there's always Israel, a beneficiary of US largesse on a scale seen nowhere else in the world.

No surprise then that out of these countries today only Israel is keen for a US invasion of Iraq.

Boy, aren't you glad you don't live in Kuwait!

Meanwhile, veterans of that war still suffer from chronic fatigue, diarrhoea, migraines, memory problems, loss of muscle control and loss of balance, blamed on possible exposure to sarin nerve gas. Let's hope to Christ Saddass really doesn't have anything up his sleeve because this time, as the Pretzel Prez and his dogs of war have stressed over and over - old Saddass will be fighting for his very existence. And if he thinks he has nothing left to lose…

Sadly, the worst seems set to come.

But back to Iraq's so-called dossier on WOMD. What did the Yanks censor?

And if U.N weapons inspectors are supposed to be checking against the dossier's contents, how can any future claim be verified? Well, it can't, can it!

However we do know some of what the U.S "good guys" suppressed: details of 24 major U.S companies who gave massive support to the Iraqi biological weapons program and its missile and nuclear weapons program. This despite the fact that everything was supposedly illegal in the case of nuclear and biological weapons. Every form of cooperation and supplies was outlawed in the 1970s.

Xenox News is happy to relate that the list of U.S corporations identified in Iraq's report include such pristine corporate stalwarts as Hewlett Packard, DuPont, Honeywell, Rockwell, Tectronics, Bechtel, International Computer Systems, Unisys, Sperry and TI Coating. Also U.S Departments of Energy, Defence, Commerce, and Agriculture quietly helped arm Iraq. Oh, and U.S government nuclear weapons laboratories Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos and Sandia trained travelling Iraqi nuclear scientists and gave non-fissile material for construction of a nuclear bomb.

Current and former UN diplomats are spewing about the 'theft' of the Iraqi document by the US. Hans von Sponeck, the former assistant general secretary of the UN and the UN's humanitarian co-ordinator in Iraq until 2000, said: 'This is an outrageous attempt by the US to mislead.' Hans old boy, chill out and take it from Xenox News: they're all cunts out there.

Interestingly, given Germany's opposition to the U.S. putsch for war on Iraq, it was Germany who topped the U.S suppliers, with as many as 80 German companies listed in Iraq's report, some German companies continuing to do business as recently as just last year.

Although the five permanent members of the security council -- the U.S, the UK, France, China and Russia -- have had access to the unexpurgated version, there was agreement that the US be allowed to edit the dossier on the ground that its contents were 'risky' in terms of security on weapons proliferation.

Risky?

Yep, the good old boys in Washington and the Oval Orifice are just looking out for world peace. Really?

As the world's biggest arms supplier, the United States made arms sales agreements valued at 12.1 billion dollars in 2001, accounting for nearly 46 percent of the overall global arms sales.

And remember the Biological Weapons Convention?

Most of the signatories want to establish a protocol for international inspections.

Guess who blocked it?

Yep: the good old USA, which has also decided to deploy its cockamamie, half-arsed missile "shield", or what there is of it, at a cost which - together with the invasion of Iraq - may well finally bankrupt the country.

And if I hear that stinking old furphy that Iraq kicked out UN weapons inspectors in 1998 one more bloody time I'm gonna freak out. Freak out, I tell ya!

The Yanks and that shifty, cross-eyed little opportunist Johnny keep spouting this bullshit but the fact is the head of the inspection team, Richard Butler, withdrew inspectors after learning that Slick Willy Clinton was sending in the goon squad for "Operation Desert Fox", its illegal bombing of Iraq. Naturally enough, Richo didn't want to be hanging round Baghdad when the bombs came down.

As for the so-called "no-fly zones" in the north and south of Iraq, where US and British planes roar through Iraqi skies and bomb Iraqi targets with utter impunity (and have done so for the past 10 years), that's crap too.

These "zones" were never authorised by UN Security Council resolutions.

The Yanks just went ahead and imposed their will, with an eye on their own future plans for the region. As the phoney war draws to a close, we've seen how effectively US planes have been in "softening up" Iraq for the real invasion.

And so its no surprise to hear that many South Koreans consider George Bullshit a bigger danger than either Saddass Hinsane or Kim Jonquil, despite them North Koreans winding up the rubber band on their nuclear reactor.

Obviously North Korea believes the irresponsible sabre rattling of the Washingtoon and Oval Orifice. I just hope they don't believe is a first-strike policy like our increasingly erratic US allies!

As for our rabid little furball of a PM, tricky Johnny Menzoid, he's just doing what he's told. That's the historic role of colonialist Aussie PMs: Washingtoon says jumps, and we jump higher than they ask us to! Hell, even the UK poodle Tony Blech has the balls to occasionally contradict a Bush statement. Not Johnny! He's all the wee with GWB, with total disregard and utter contempt for actual Australian interests, both global and regional.

Still, the "reds under the bed" rhetoric of Johnny's hero, the monarchist PM Bob Mensneeze, worked a treat for that old sychophant ("I but saw her passing by"!): he held on to the porcelain throne for two decades with that line.

With Johhny - as with L'il Dubya - it looks like we'll have the Orwell's perpetual war on "terror".

Ah, that's a nice, neat label with one size fitting all: just ask the Russians in Chechnya, the Chinese in Tibet, and the Israelies in Palestine (oops, I mean Israel).

Instead of wasting $15 million on its self-serving and ultimately meaningless "terror awareness" campaign, Johnny Wedge should do something practical like instigate a BULLSHIT awareness program. Oh, but that would expose the federal government for the sneaky, malicious gaggle of elitist hoons that they are.

And as we stumble into 2003 through a fog of mendacity, anxiety and perplexity, just ask yourself this one question:

Do you feel more safe and secure than your did a year ago, or less?

Be alert! Be Aware! Spy on your neighbours! Kill the poor! And trust your mechanic!

This was Max Gross for Xenox News, looking out for Australia, alert, aware, and very, very alarmed!
