AI will kill off humanity within a decade

The AI billionaires are racing toward all thinking and self-autonomous super AI models with little thought for Asimov's three rules for robots.

  1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey orders given by humans, except when those orders conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence, as long as that protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Read the terrifying warning from recent OpenAI and Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, who resigned this week, as he opens up about the madness behind the scenes at both labs—their relentless race toward super intelligent reinforcement learning, and what the current trajectory could ultimately mean for humanity: https://x.com/hilbertspaess/status/2097476196791709843

Coxon joins a phalanx of voices from the AI sector with similar fears.

Will it? I don't think we will notice.

Notice what? Humanity in the quality sense rather than the collective? One would have to agree that at the international level the notion of humanity is indeed bereft. Yet at the individual level the majority of people one meets face to face appear compassionate and caring. However many of these same individuals aspire to and promote nationalism.

@Ashen in Ashwood Not all Nationalisms bad, and in a lot of cases it is just people who want to be left alone, or at least not sanctioned and starved by the West.
The greed and selfishness of the upper echelon. The rich bastards. They are the immediate problem that has to be dealt with. Pull the plug on their AI toys and kaboom off they will go.
