Bushfire or Rona? Or both?

Australia’s bushfire ‘season’ has begun...

Begun? It never ended!

There are 62 grass and bushfires currently burning across New South Wales despite a cool change arriving late this afternoon, while on Fraser Island off south-east Queensland a “significant fire” has been burning since October.

And just in case that isn’t enough, here’s some COVID19 joy:

Russia reported 26,683 new coronavirus cases, taking the national total to 2,269,316 since the start of the pandemic.

In Serbia, some 2,000 medical workers have been forced to self-isolate just as medical wards are seeing a huge inundation of patients filling beds in the capital Belgrade.

Indonesia has reported “a record rise” in coronavirus infections, after 6,267 new cases and 169 deaths. I suspect the true extent is worse than that across the vast complex archipelago.

Mexico reported 10,008 new confirmed coronavirus infections and 586 additional deaths on Saturday, bringing the official number of cases to 1,100,683 with a total death toll of 105,459.

Basket case Brazil has registered 51,922 additional coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours.

Just don’t mention the USA.

I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

As of Saturday, China had a total of 86,512 confirmed coronavirus cases, with an official death toll from the coronavirus at 4,634. Last week state media claimed that “all available evidence suggests that the coronavirus did not start in central China’s Wuhan”.

So, where did it start? I’ll leave that mystery to the tinfoil hat brigade.

Here in Australia, Victoria has had no new coronavirus cases in 30 days, while in South Australia the authorities seem to have no idea what they are doing, content to blame, name and shame some poor schmuck working two shitty insecure jobs for the Adelaide outbreak.

No doubt this will convince others to refuse to come forward and be tested.

Meanwhile Prime Sinister Scott Bullshit Boy Morrison and the federal government, the LNP generally, RWNJ trolls like Alan Jones and Peta Credlin, and the entire Murdoch agitprop empire, have gone strangely mute regarding South Australia’s woes, despite breathlessly excoriating and undermining Victoria’s efforts all bloody year.

2021 is looking fabulous!
