Let's repeat the obvious, yet again, for all you blinkered, carpet-chewing, bum-sniffing, heel-clicking, flag-saluting, bible-bashing zealots out there: UN Security Council 1441 - the last resolution passed on Iraq - does NOT provide authorisation for military action. The US decided to invade Iraq because it had been planning to do so for years. And they still stuffed the bloody thing up!
