British PM Tony Blair the other day defended his fudging of facts by claiming the invasion of Iraq is justified despite the lack of finding any WOMD because Saddam Hussein's was an "appalling regime the world is well rid of".

Appalling sure, but was/is he unique in the world? I think not.

Putting aside the (critical!) issue that the US, British AND Australian governments' loud and concerted mantra prior to the invasion was Hussein's imminent threat, that he HAD to be attacked IMMEDIATELY to prevent him from using the WOMD that he very definitely HAD, there and then.

Now, the song has changed. Now, it seems is was all about granting ordinary Iraqis their freedom from Saddam Hussein.

Does the end always justify the means? Does anyone care that we have been lied to by our leaders on this incredibly vital issue? Did YOUR son die in Iraq, fighting for something in his head or for the false reasons our leaders kept banging on about? Is the world made "safer" by this barge-arsing about by the USA?

And is there another "appalling regime" out there that was/is worse than that of Saddam Hussein?

Not North Korea, of course, because they actually seem to have the capacity to defend themselves (In fact, the reason they're restarted their nuclear arms program is as a direct result of the unilateral US invasion of Iraq!)

But yes, for the sake of global peace and security, ALL religious fanatics should be locked up in loony bins, IMMEDIATELY!

US polls indicate that for most Americans the attacks of September 11th justify all of the killing that has taken place in Iraq.

Americans believe - quite falsely - that Iraq was responsible for those attacks, and the human slaughter is seen as vengeance.

No connection between the government of Saddam Hussein and the attacks of September 11th has even been presented by either US or British government sources.

Americans accept their leadership's blatant lies due to a combination of sheer ignorance and a desire for revenge.

All of the above! But here's the one we've known all along, finally admitted to by that pus-bag US Defence Secretary Rumsfeld, at the US Senate hearing last week: "The coalition did not act in Iraq because we had discovered dramatic new evidence of Iraq's pursuit of weapons of mass destruction. We acted because we saw the existing evidence in a new light - through the prism of our experience on 9/11."

There it is, plain and simple: REVENGE! but more importantly: because they fuckin CAN!

America is proving the "terrorists" correct and is fulfilling its role as "the Great Satan".
