US General Tommy Franks confirmed today that a Apache Helicopter gunship had been shot down by Iraqi farmers.

But, as he told assembled reporters at the Operation Mushroom breifing centre in Qatar:

"You have to remember these were Iraqi Republican Farmers!

They grow the food for the elite Republican Guards and so are tougher than the normal Iraqi peasant."

A highly regarded and popular news service suggested that, in the hands of a regular Iraqi farmer, that rusty old 5 shot .22 rifle, is less than a pea shooter, but in the hands of a Republican Farmer, the gun can be quickly transformed into a WMD.
