Nobel Peace Prize Winner in favour of Iraq War

The East Timorese foreign minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner Jose Ramos Horta makes the case for war. He takes the Iraqi people's point of view and compares their suffering under Sadaam with the people of East Timor's suffering from Indonesia and reminds us all of a time when East Timor's civilians were crying out for foreign military intervention and noone would come! Sadaam must be removed to ease their suffering even if there are many civilian deaths. I heard him on the radio this evening and I must say he made a very convincing argument and took me completely by surprise as I considered his words and found myself agreeing with him. Sadaam is not an angel and has killed and tortured hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Neither is Bush of course and no matter what the US motivation for this war perhaps there is a some kind of positive aspect to it. I'm confused. Is there ever a just war? Could be good? Could be bad? Have to wait and see, Max? Where are you Max? Can War ever be a good thing? Will we ever have enough information to make a judgment call? It will be good for some and bad for others. On both sides.

Alright I responded a couple of times to some comments but only cause I thought of something else to say.

I'm not egotistical at all. In fact I rarely talk about myself at all. It's only recently that I have started making frequent posts to this site. So what right do you have anonymous sir (or madam) to insinuate that I myself am egotistical. I, who have never sought to dominate others and alway bowed to their wishes. Even when I knew better than they what they really wanted. I who have nary a egotistical bone in my body. OK, I only have one egotistical bone in my body but is has a mind of it's own and only occasionally gets out of control. Maybe that's the bone you mean when you say egotesticle.

Just because I can type faster than you and get more words down in a shorter period of time making it seem that I am ranting and raving and love the sound of my own keyboard what right do you, anonymous unregistered sod breaker, have to denounce me in a public forum? Hmmm? None!! That's right. So clear off. Leave this house of enlightenment right now so that my words my shine more clearly on others. Egotistical indeed!

Either that or write your posts and comments down before you key them in so you have an opportunity to collect your thoughts and have less chance of making a colossal fool of yourself

.... lucky you are anonymous actually...

I think I understand you better now that I have realised that..... you're the shy type aren't you? Lurking here and there on the net and anonymously having your say because you can't actually pluck up the nerve to speak to anyone in the real world. Yes I feel compassion for you now. Speak! Type! Abuse me with your words. I implore you! Bolster your confidence in the safe confines of cyberspace so that one day you can leave the house and walk boldy to the milk bar and demand a litre of milk in a nice clear voice.....

Mr. Ramos-Horta lives part of the year in Sydney. Australia boasts one of the largest East Timorese communities outside of their native island.

Asked what he would like for Christmas this year, Mr. Ramos-Horta said: "I have already received the best Christmas gift anyone could get, the Peace Prize, which recognzies the East Timorese community. If I could have one more big wish, it is this: Let the guns fall silent forever on East Timor."

This is a religious issue and
oil is a minor factor here.

Iraq was sitting on oil that
    rightfully belongs to the free
    world (the USA).

Iraq had no right to prevent
the free world (the USA) getting
its own oil that God had made
just for the free world (the USA)
at a FAIR price in Godly US
    petro dollars.

God in his wisdom dictated that
oil be sold ONLY in US dollars
to God's own country (the USA).

So now you know that this is
    not about oil.

Successive Australian governments (including, to his eternal shame, Labor's otherwise brilliant but flawed visionary Gough Whitlam) decided to abandon East Timor to the corrupt Indonesian military... Even now, we are screwing East Timor for resources that poor, troubled little country needs far more than we ever will... Australia always was, always will be a gutless, suckhole nation of ex-convicts!
