We knew from the outset that these laws would be misused and so it has been proven. Unless federal police have something more substantial that this nonsensical sim card claim then we should all be very afraid for the future of democracy in this country.

Just heard that not only was it his second cousins who he talked to often but he lent them the SIM card a full 11 months before the so called terrorist incident, meaning that the DPP are saying he knew that his cousins were planing the attacks at least that long beforehand. If that's true, why did he have his one way ticket out of Australia issued in his real name and an address in India that he gave where he was going to stay, was his real address where his family actually resided. If his association with the alledged terrorists was not an innocent one, he would obviously try to cover his tracks by lying about his personal details, not give his fuckin real home address.
Like I said before, this could mean that in future, if you have contact with someone on a traceable way such as telephone or email, and then that person does something that could be classified as terror-related, then YOU are probably going to be up the creek without a paddle, despite having been unaware of their intentions.

Looks like Haneef gave them the sim because, obviously, since he was returning to Australia it was of no more use to him! And now the rotten Rodent has ignored a court ruling to release the guy on bail and used mean and tricky migration laws to lock Haneef up anyway... in another state, far from his lawyers!

I reckon John Howard would fail a character test with no problems. I mean what sort of a c**t refuses to say a simple "sorry" to the indigenous people when asked.

The Howard government is trying to thwart due process by smear, innuendo and technicalities that have nothing to do with seeking the truth or applying rules of justice.

You know mate, there is one aspect of this SIM card thing that nobody has ever brought up for discussion. Just like how they found Mohammed Atta's passport in the wreckage of the plane that exploded and disintegrated, they somehow feel that a SIM card could still be there after the car exploded in the first place.
I think that if a mobile phone was in an explosion which destroys a car, the whole item would be smashed to bits or burnt beyond recognition. I think its all bullshit.

It turns out that the sim card was NOT found anywhere near the car!
